Editorial policy

How do we evaluate products and advice?

We compare vendors using official pricing pages, help docs, and dated press releases. Checklists and triage steps reflect common independent-operator workflows—not a controlled product trial. When we cannot verify a figure, we omit it or link the agency/vendor page instead of inventing a number.

Do you hands-on test restaurant software?

No. Menu & Margin does not claim mystery shops, paid load tests, or unpublished “lab” scores. Product pages frame tradeoffs as operator considerations. News items require a primary source URL.

Where do sources live?

Article footnotes, comparison “Sources / last checked” lines, and docs/sources.md when present. Licensing tables link official .gov or agency pages.

How do affiliates affect rankings?

Approved affiliate programs use /go/ redirects (currently Toast only). Other vendors get plain links. Commissions do not buy placement. See affiliate disclosure.

Corrections

If a cited page changes or we misstate a public figure, we update the page and the visible “Updated” date. Contact via the publisher listed on About.
