Affiliate Disclosure
How Menu & Margin is funded, how affiliate links work, and what that means for rankings.
Federal Trade Commission compliance
In accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR Part 255 (Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising), Menu & Margin provides the following disclosure regarding affiliate relationships and compensation.
Affiliate relationships
Menu & Margin participates in affiliate marketing programs. We may earn commissions when you click certain links and later buy or sign up for a service.
Approved affiliate links use rel="sponsored nofollow noopener" and redirect
through our /go/ path (for example, https://menuandmargin.com/go/toast). A one-line
disclosure sits above the first affiliate link on those pages. Other vendor mentions use
plain non-affiliate links.
Products and services we link to
Approved /go/ affiliate programs currently include Toast (POS and related
Toast products). We may also participate in other programs (including Amazon Associates)
disclosed in context. Categories we cover editorially include:
- Restaurant point-of-sale (POS) systems
- Employee scheduling software
- Payroll and HR software
- Inventory management systems
- Other restaurant management tools
We do not promote or link to mortgage products, title services, escrow services, or insurance products.
Editorial independence
Affiliate relationships do not buy placement. We:
- Compare products from publicly available information and dated sources
- Call out drawbacks when they matter to operators
- Do not accept payment from vendors to improve rankings or reviews
- Keep editorial control over every page
- Update figures when we re-check vendor pages
Your costs
Using an affiliate link does not raise the price you pay. Whether you use our link or go straight to the vendor, the sticker price is the same. The difference is that our link may generate a commission that helps keep this resource free.
Recommendations and advice
Content on Menu & Margin is educational. It is not professional business, financial, or legal advice. Talk to qualified advisors before you buy a restaurant, sign software contracts, or change how you run the room.
Data sources
Comparisons and guides draw on:
- Vendor websites and product documentation
- Public app-store ratings and review counts where cited
- Industry reports and studies we can link
- Public regulatory materials (for example, SBA notices)
Factual claims are cited where possible. When a number needs independent verification, we say so. A running log lives at docs/sources.md.
Updates to this policy
We may update this disclosure as practices or legal requirements change. The date at the top of the page shows the latest revision.
